remember that you are basing your understanding of the entire world and all 8 billion of its people on a very small subset of people whose opinions you see through very limited communication channels. say you get most of your pulse on the world through twitter and reddit:
- on both platforms, the majority of the userbase is only there because they donât talk to people in the real world and thus theyâre kind of insane or autistic as it is
- on both platforms, youâre incentivized to be incendiary, posts that provoke get engagement and attention, even (or especially) if theyâre wrong
- you can hold at most 100-150 people in your head regularly, your mind believes that you are seeing the opinions of 100-150 people and extrapolating that to the whole world.
